I have posted on here a few times about the trouble I have been having with my son and him not wanting to do his breathing treatments. We only found out he had cf in Nov of 2003. Anyway we had an apt. today for a checkup and everything went good. For those of you who don't know in Aug of last year my son started getting real sick. He had bronchitis then pneumonia and wasn't getting better. They did a broncscopy in Sept. He tested pos. for the second time with pseudo. and msra. He got put in the hospital in Oct. In Dec. they decided since he was fixing to be 13 (may 4th) and he was still below 20th for weight and height they needed to do feeding tube. We did the one in the nose first to see if it would help. In mid Jan with did the g tube. To make a long story short this apt after many they said things were looking good. His pfts are up to 70% (before he got sick they were in the mid 80s) A little lower than our last apt but acceptable. His weight is up to an unbelieveable 90lbs and has reached 4ft 7 1/2. This means he has gained 16 lbs since Jan and grew 3 in. Yea!! Before we were lucky to have him gain 5 lbs a year. He is doing good and feeling good. A year later and a good report for the first time. Yea!! I am sure you all can feel how excited we are to finally get a good report.

That is such great news. I am so glad that the visit went well. It is so uplifting to have a good visit with the docs especially after you have hit a rough patch. I hope he keeps doing great - keeps growing and putting on some weight.

Take Care,
Lindsey
