Finger nails and CF

Is there a connection with Cf and losing fingernails? On one of Austins fingers his nail started like coming loose and peeling off starting at the part closest to the cuticle. Didn't think much of it until today when he showed me 2 other nails doing the same thing.

So what is going on. He hasn't done anything to damage them. Could it be some sort of vitamin deficency or something?

I noticed when I am sicker, my nails are more delicate and will peel off. They also form little ridges and are very fragile in general. Has he been sick lately? Does he have any low vitamin levels? Either of those could be the culprit.

I don't know if your son also has allergies/excema, but that can damage the nail, usually making it pitted in appearance.

I was just talking to a friend of mine whose daughter has a form of alopecia so we were talking about autoimmune disorders. She mentioned one where one of the symptoms is fingernails falling out. Now, autoimmune disorders are on my mind, so that's why this popped into my head, not because I have any specific knowledge. Just a thought. I've never heard of anything like that related to CF specifically(other than clubbing of the fingers), but it could be a vitamin deficiency like you said.
