<br />One of the diognastic tools for any lung disease is the clubbing of fingernails. For whatever reason, the blood dosent get to the fingertips. Bumping and cracking can be a part of this but so can be a calcium diffency. Ask your Doctor to do a calcium level blood test.

Doctors aren't always right. The lines/bumps run from the bed of the nail to the tip? It sounds like an Iron and B Vitamin (B6 and B12, mainly 12) deficiency if I am picturing it correctly. Search it, you can find pictures to compare it to that might help.

My fingernails and toenails have ridges, and sometimes they get weird cracks in them. It would be so fun if everyone would post pix of their fingernails and toenails! My big toe toenail and my thumbnails are huge and wide! As soon as I figure out how to post pix, I'll show ya'll what they look like : )

Yeah it is a common issue. My finger nails get vertical lines. I have mild clubbing. The lines are due to protein and nutritional deficiency.
