Just wanted to say that I hope all goes as well as it can. I will be keeping Andrew in prayer.<img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We told Andrew last night and he was pretty clear on the fact that he was not going in the hospital, wasn't having a bronchothingy (in his words), and not having IVs. He told my husband and I that we could go, but he was staying home.

However, today he is starting to ask some questions. I can tell he is preparing himself for this. He's home sick with the flu so we have a lot of time to spend together today. I'm trying to put everything in 9 year old lingo and help him understand how important it is to make sure the stuff growing in his lungs does not take away any of his lung function. That opened his eyes a little because one thing he loves about going to clinic is doing PFTs with our RT, Jim. Jim always makes a big deal over Andrew's lung function. He is great!

Jane, I was planning to take my laptop to the hospital so Andrew and I would both have something to do. I guess I should make sure we'll have WiFi in our room, huh? Thanks again for the support. I'll let everyone know when we get this scheduled.

Tonya - my son is 10 - so I can just imagine how hard it would be. Tanner has been in the hospital when he was 8 weeks old and 6 months (then dagnosed) he was in 4 times for nasal polyp surgery - but nothing else. I can imagine how freaked Tanner would be too. I hope things go OK and if he feels better when he gets done he might not think it was so bad. Let us know how things go. How long does he have to stay in? Hugs and prayers to both of you!!

Hi MyBoy...
We are not sure how long we will be in. We are waiting for the bronchoscopy nurse to call to schedule the bronch. They do them on Tuesdays, so it will be next Tues. or the one after. I'm kind of hoping they will wait a week. I don't want Andrew to miss Halloween. I figure if he's been like this since May, 7 more days won't make that big of a difference. Anyway, that will also give us time to get his culture results back so the doctor can deside which med to use. That will decide how long we will be in. Could be two or three days, could be closer to a week..it all depends if levels need to be drawn. I suppose what she finds during the bronch might help her decide which med to go with, too. I'm not really sure. This is all so new. But I will post what happens. I like hearing other's experiences because I learn alot, so now maybe our experience will help someone else learn something.
