That makes no sense that the initial wave of vaccine won't be able to protect the people who need it most, given that h1n1 is already widespread in so many states! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">

I hope this part is true, and that the 'some' is substantial and is given to only those who truly need it:
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>However, it's possible that some vaccine shots will become available by the first week of October as well, said Butler, chief of the CDC's swine flu vaccine task force.</end quote></div>

I think the Flu Mist is not approved for people who need it because it is only weakened influenza virus instead of killed influenza virus. I wouldn't want to give my baby or myself weakened influenza virus, so I'm willing to wait for the shot.

Yeah, i understand why flumist isn't approved for those with health conditions like cf. it's just frustrating that some of those needing protection the most will have to wait.

I'm sure this is just due to the production timetable, not intent... 4 manufacturers altogether are working on this (3 for the shot, one for the intranasal) so hopefully as much supply as possible will be available soon.
