Hello! My name is Tara. I am a 31 year old mother to two beautiful children. Our son, Mack is 10 years old and no cf. Our daughter, Kennedy is 6 years old with CF. She was diagnosed at birth with mec. ileus. She had the surgery done at 4 days old. She has been battling with some pretty serious digestive issues, more so then resp. issues. But neverless they get serious. The only resp issues has been her sinuses. She has had her drainage tubes enlarged last year and the removal of her adenoids. With digestion, she is on pretty big dose of enzymes. She had her gallbladder removed last year after a year of pain and attacks. As well, recently has been her liver..which she is now on meds for. The only other issue has been her reflux. She suffered greatly with it as a little child and still takes meds for it as she is a total puker.

Anyhow, I carry the N1303K mutation and my husbands gene has not yet been identified as he is black and they feel its rare in blacks. The N1303K mutation seems to be alot of digestive issues from what I have read, but who knows...everyone is different. All I know is that life is super easier as she is older now. She is in school full time, grade 1. She is active in dance, skiing and outdoor sports. She is very tall for her age and is in about the 50th percentile for weight (51 pounds).

We live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

So thats us, in a nutshell. You can view my blog and see pics of us all <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Welcome, welcome......interesting that your husband mutation hasnt been identified. My hubby is also black & we had him tested to see if he is a carrier of the known mutations so as its always been possible....I am interested in knowing if the black population will end up being known for a certain mutation. ANYWAY WELCOME!
