My LO is 7months old and we just recently had to start doing Tobi and Cipro b/c he cultured Psuedomonas. I'm just soo overwhelmed now b/c of this and having to do his PT's twice a day. How do you fit all of this into your day? Do you just get up early and get it all out the way or what? I'm just trying to figure out how to fit all of this into his day w/bottles,naps and playtime!! I stay at home right now, but will soon go back to work part time..then I'm really going to stress!!! HELP!

When I was home on maternity leave we did 4 treatments a day. When I went back to work and he had bronchitis we continued 4 times a day, but did one in the middle of the night.

Now that he's older he does the vest and gets 3 treatments a day when he's healthy -- 4-5 a day when he has a cough. Albuterol/Atrovent needs to be no sooner than evey 4 hours.

I get up at 6 and do CPT with Duo/Neb. Then while I shower, DH adminsters Tobi. We do Vest at 5:30 p.m. with duo/neb. Nebulize Tobi for 20 minutes. Before bed -- 9:30-10 we do another half hour of vest with duoneb and pulmozyme.

Basically it's just a matter of getting into a routine. It was a bit overwhelming at first. If we have something going on later in the evening, we plan accordingly -- maybe do his 5 p.m treatment a little sooner, sometimes his last one of the evening occurs late at night. Whatever it takes to keep those lungs healthy.

It just becomes a part of life. It does take a lot of time in the day. My kids are now 6 and 8. The bus comes at 7:15am for elementary school. So they have to wake up EARLY to fit in eating and treatments. Often the afternoons are crazy. Home at 3:15, snacks, rest, homework, fit in treatments, then off to baseball, etc at 4:45, etc. Life just doesn't slow down. I feel like I am always saying "hurry"!!!!
Sharon, mom of Sophia, 8 and Jack, 6 both with cf, Grant, 1 without cf

Ashley,

I want you to know you are not alone. My daughter just cultured psuedo as well. She is two years old and usually only has one treatment a day. Since the psuedo we are on TOBI and cipro, and all hell broke loose! My daughter did not do well with the change in routine. She stopped eating for two days, which caused me to have a 'mini' breakdown. We are in week 3 (i think) of the treatments and it has gotten better.

We do our first treatment first thing in the morning (before breakfast) so there wouldn't be a chance of throwing up. I have the nebs sterilized and ready for that. In the evening we do the same thing - try to do it before eating.

A random suggestion is to make it as fun as you can. Put some music on or the tv. My husband and try to do it together as a family (if we can), as to show support.

I hope things calm down and you get 'your' routine.
