According to the CDC, the vaccination lasts for about a year. In other words, why wait? I just got mine at CF clinic. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I have a question about this year's flu shot! I don't know if anyone has the answer. I've heard that they are combining the H1N1 and the regular flu shot into 1 single vaccine. Is this true?

I'm so super paranoid about the H1N1 vaccine. Something about it I don't trust. Now it seems I won't be able to get away from it! lol

We all got the H1N1 vaccine last year with no problems. And I believe there are several individuals here who either got H1N1 or know someone who did and are now sold on getting the vaccine. H1N1 was nasty stuff that affected quite a few people this past year.

The h1n1 strain was included in this year's vaccine the way any other strain would be. There are always multiple strains selected for the seasonal shot- it wasn't a new thing to do this because of the h1n1 threat. Once they decide which strains to use, then begins the process that takes months- incubating, extracting, and processing into the form needed to make vaccine.

eta> Emily got sick with h1n1 due to not being able to be vaccinated in time, and while Tamiflu reduced severity of the initial symptoms, she still ended up with a severe case of secondary bronchitis- the sickest she'd been in a year.

Hmmm, Imagine that... Our clinic cancelled their shot blitz this week due to lack of vaccine. Grrrr! At least DS got his at the clinic last week.
