Fluidy feeling in lungs

Hi,

Last weekend I got a dreadful cold with a very productive cough. I had alot of rattling/rumbling feelings in my chest when breathing (just from the junk moving around and out I guess).

As usual the cold triggered an exascerbation, so I went to the Dr on Tuesday to do something about it straight away (should probably mention that I'm 22 weeks pregnant). I'm on Cipro and tobra for two weeks.

The thing I'm worried about is that after 5 days of Abx the junk seems to be lessening and the colour is clearing up (sorry TMI...), but the rumbles are still there. Even after an hour of PEP twice a day (plus excercise and manual CPT) it just keeps coming back. I've also had alot of clear mucous coming from my nose.

I think the Abx are working, in fact, except for the rumbles and intermittent wet cough I feel really good. When I had the cold my BSLs spiked really badly, but they are back to normal (better now actually than before the cold...).

I've never had penumonia before, so I don't know what it feels like, but I assume I would not feel so good and my BSL would still be up (I didn't get an XRay at the Dr b/c I'm pregnant).

Do you think I should be worried about the rattles? Or should I just be more patient and let the Abx do their work?

Do you have a fever? Tightness or burning in your lungs? How is your appetite? When pneumonia strikes one usually has issues with these 3 things. If I were you I'd do some ACT whenever you feel the rattling. Don't focus on times or technique...just do what ever will fill the dixie cup the quickest. Keep a log to see if day to day you are getting more or less out than the previous and stay in contact with your dr because if it turns for the worse at all you'll probably need IVs. Eat extra calories to keep your weight (and weight gaining while pregnant!) up.

Thanks LouLou,

No fever, no tightness (less tight than usual oddly...), no burning and appetitie is fine. I havn't had any chest pain either. The more I think about it I think this is just an unusually productive exascerbation (maybe something to do with pregnancy??). There is definately less today than yesterday, and probably a gradual decrease since I started the abx. I'm going to the Dr again tomorrow to make sure my FEVs are going back up.

I'll try getting the junk out whenever I feel it there (tricky at work though). Eating shouldn't be a problem <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Hopefully all is well tomorrow!
