We are going on vac. for about a week and want to know if anyone takes a flutter or there vest. We were going to get a flutter but we havent used one before. He has no lung problems and no mucus in them right now. Anyone have a flutter for there kids and if so do they work. What would you take on your vac if it was you. vest or a flutter? We will be in a different climate and it will be colder than he is used to.

Both of my kids have a vest, but my daughter has a flutter in addition to her vest. We travel a lot to visit families up and down the east coast, and we recently started leaving the vest at home and just taking the flutter for my daughter, and in addition, we take that little plunger looking thing they gave us to pound on their backs. The only reason we would take a vest would be if they already had a cold. I may be way off, but when we go on vacation, I like to give them a vacation too... from the vest.

We have a flutter, pep, and some other travel device. As long as they are healthy, I personally think it is ok. I agree, they should get a vacation too, unless they are sick, having lung issues, or coughing up stuff and really can't afford to miss the vest. Plus, it has been our experience that when we change to something new, that we haven't used before, it sometimes works a little better than the vest, at least for a few days before it stops being as effective as the vest. The key is making sure they are doing it correctly, which is not always as easy to determine as it is with the vest. Plus, the cold tends to make Nathan have a dryer cough and less productive and the vest doesn't help make a difference, its hard to loosen stuff that is all dried up. Again, as long as they are healthy, I would probably give them a break and a chance at a real vacation and leave it at home, making sure that there is an understanding that this is for vacation time only.

Have fun on your vacation!
