Folic acid supplement

Shine - you weren't taking it very often so I'm really surprised it messed you up so much. I have never heard of that complication. When I was TTC my son, I was taking 1mg (the usual dose is 400 mcg, not mg) a day which was prescribed to me by the genetic councilor that we saw. I just did a google search on constipation and folic acid and the only stuff that comes up is that folic acid can actually help w/ constipation.

Maybe take smaller doses more frequently? Or a prenatal vitamin that already has it included instead of a separate pill? 400mcg twice a week doesn't seem to be enough to do much of anything as the recommendation is 400mcg every day for women of childbearing age.

Thanks Caroline for the advice, I will be trialing it again this year.
Hopefully last year's bowel problems were not associated with taking Folic acid. So I could be mistaken I hope.

Shine - I hope it didn't have anything to do w/ it either but I'm not saying I don't believe you. Strange things happen! And who am I to question someone's personal experience, ya know? But I hope it was a coincidence for your sake <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
