I was wondering what types of medicines are used and what ones seem to work the best?

Iv and oral.

And are you on supplements, if so what kinds.

Also are you on pulmozyme or Hypertonic saline?

Sorry for all the questions, but my daughter is going to clinic on friday. Her staph never goes away and I would like to know what combinations of drugs work the best.

Thanks

I grew staph for about 15 years - up until this time last year when I was given a month of nebulised gent. Since then I've been staph free! I'd previously been on flucloxacillin and azythromycin as long-term treatments for the staph but they didn't really help. I also do pulmozyme and sometimes HS.

Obviously the same things aren't going to work for everbody, but it might be worth asking about.

My older daughter always culture staph and mrsa. We do not treat her unless there are flare ups and they have an increase in cough and sputum.
Kayla was put on IV Vancomycin when she was sick last year with abundant staph in her lungs, and it did get rid of the staph (although not the mrsa) and it kept it away for about 6 months. Then she was sick again, and put on oral Zyvox. Her next culture after that showed no mrsa, but the staph was back.

She does do Pulmozyme on a daily basis. We take no other supplements (besides her ADEKs).

Thank you very much for repyling Laura lou and tammy.

I have written this down and will ask the doc tomorrow.

My daughter is on augmentin duo forte full time (oral) and it does nothing for her.

she is propably resistant to it by now.

Even though staph is a milder bug to have, it still is on a persistant path to destroy her lungs.

Thank you again
