there's truly no reason you should have to be on coumadin for a DVT.<br>It's very old school and there are so many better options out there such as Lovenox and Arixtra that work much faster, don't require the same crazy monitoring, and won't make you feel like crap.<br>

I was on coumadin for 6 months following a massive DVT. It is a horrible drug but was necessary. I was EXHAUSTED. I could feel my blood in my veins - i literally felt like i had ice running through my veins. It was weird and hard to describe. I had to avoid vitmain K and anything wth it in it (broccoli, spinich, etc) until i was off it. It didn't affect my breathing. the INR levels were all over the place. it is a hard drug to regulate. don't get alarmed if they change your dose many times. staying away from vitamin K will keep your INR levels more stable. i was very glad to get off this drug. sorry to tell you it is used in rat poisin and that's how the rats die - by ODing on it. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> gross. follow all instrections. google foods to avoid while on the drug.
