For transplant patients too<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Since my sinuses are CF, I have to keep my entire body hydrated. There is a difference when I wake up in the morning and have not had to anything drink. Once the water goes down, I feel more awake and energized.

Hey guy's i just posted this on Amy's blog, and just saw this new post on taking NAC.

I just wanted to inform you that people who take NAC supplements should drink 6-8 glasses of water daily to prevent what's called, CYSTINE RENAL STONES (note) they are rare.

The site i got this info from is www.pdrhealth.com

Keep us posted</end quote></div>

It can also lower your zinc levels.

Well, i guess were in trouble then ( well Olivia is). I am lucky if i can get her to even drink 1 glass of water a day, not 6-8.

She just refuses fluids even om the most hottest days. I have tried adding cordial, ribena etc and she will dring a little more but nowhere near even 2 glasses. I have had this problem with her for ages.

Now that you guy's have mentioned that her lungs and sputem can become severely dehydrated, its gotten me very concerned about her.

Has anyone got any ideas. Please help!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

She refuses ALL liquids? The reason I ask is because when my airways were closing down & really restricted I had NO desire to drink anything. I actually couldnt. Like losing your appetite, but its for the liquids instead of food. This of course dehydrated me. My point here....is it possible she has no desire because of her breathing affecting it? Again are we referring to all liquids?

Hi Melissa,

Um, i'm not sure what to say. She has never realy been into fluids, besides when she was being breastfed. Once that stopped, it became realy difficult to get her to drink anything. Her dietician is alway's complaing its not enough she needs more, and yes i know she does but i cannot pysically SHOVE it down her throat.

Her docs, her breathing is normal, no restrictions, and x-rays are all clear. She has a tone of energy and loves to walk to our local park and back. That is a 2km walk by the way, and she's still full of energy when we get home.

I have never noticed her breathing to be heavy/deep in any way and i have never realy felt concerned about it as her docs say her beathing sounds normal, so i guess i'm back to sqaure one.

Don't know what else to say/do!

I dont have any real answers except to try & let liquids into her via fruit etc. Food that have high water content like watermelon etc. Its not ideal, but its something. Its interesting how she refuses to drink tho. Have you tried different methods like a straw, sippy cups & did she ever take a bottle? Just wondering what is going thru her little head that makes her not want to drink!
