For those with CF that run

Thanks, everyone! Since everyone is sharing how long it takes them to do a mile, I figure I'd share... I'm at an 11 minute mile.

Since my inquiry was how long you can run constant without a break... for those who run 45 minutes (AMAZING BTW!!!!), do you run that without stopping for even a minute to walk? Do you run that straight through? If so, I am completely floored! Its amazing anyone can run that (CF or not!) YAY!

And to others who run (or do any cardio) with CF (and it appears everyone who has replied runs longer and faster than I), I want to tell you GREAT job!!! I also LOVE the feeling I get when I run/jog. Its amazing. I know many with CF don't have the lung capacity at this point to do it, but I also give them kudos for doing what they can do.... I think it is the best thing we can do for ourselves (I personallly think its even better than my vest, but that's just me)... I credit running with keeping me at my baseline for years now!

Anyway, anyone else care to offer how long (in minutes) they can run straight without stopping to catch their breath? I'm totally inspired by the responses I've gotten already!

Thanks everyone! Happy New Year to ya'll too!!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I can typically sustain a 9.5 minute mile for 45 minutes without a problem.</end quote></div>

Oh, I just realized you said "sustain", so that would be constant, eh? Oophs!

I run 2x a week for 4 miles. I used to do 6 but I find that is counterproductive for the future of my knees and back. I lift weights the other days of the week, never going a day w/o atleast a half hour of exercise.

I ran a half marathan in Philadelphia in September, w/o stopping.

personally I running, I just do it for the cardio, I'd play hockey every night if I could afford it. i also do weights 3 times a week.

yay for running! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I ran a half marathon last year (ran the whole thing, 9.5min mile), and am currently training for a marathon.

I know it's not typical of CFers, but I was diagnosed late (age 20) because my CF is "mild" right now, so it pretty much pissed me off, and running a marathon is my way of giving CF the finger and to spread awareness of it while I'm still healthy.

Anyway, to answer your question - most recently I ran for about an hour and half straight- 9 min/mile.

Best of luck w/ the running, keep up the good work! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
