Hi Kristy,

Yes you are right about lung transplant ppl being on steroids for life but the dose they are on is rather low.... I also have osteoporosis.. that according to my last bone scan has improved by a whole 1 percent.. We are talking about another bone disease called avascular necrosis.. that is where the bone dies because the blood supply to it is cut off.....

Laura, I am 33 years old.. My IM is Jennifers_hope@yahoo... No, I don't recommend reading the support group website that I read..everyone was so doom and gloom that it freaked me out.

I will see what I am doing about surgery next week.... I may not be that far gone and they may be able to do the decompression therapy.. In a way, I don't really want that anyway since walking on crutches for six to eight weeks won't work for me right now....

I am so encourged by reading that you are still doing okay.... I have read that the hips are the most serious to have it in.. Of course I never fool around...

I am currently researching a new bed.. the one I want is so much money I can't bear to ask for it.. it is the new pillow top celebrity bed by tempur pedic.. I will see they are sending me information on it but it is close to $3000.00 but at this point I am so desprate to get a decent pain free night of sleep..

I have to go I am at work... and I just got a patient....

Hope to hear from you soon on IM...

OK Speaking of bone pain. Anyone have shoulder problems. My shoulders hurt me like heck. I use to think it was because of my falling asleep with them above my head & they would get stiff, but.....recently I have been woken up by the pain when just laying on my side. It is more on one side & feels like it needs to be cracked. Dull ache. Not as painful as it is annoying. This could just be another area in which I have discomfort like I do with my neck, fingers, knees etc Maybe its just the weather. Maybe its old age. Just curious is all!

Hey Emily.. I didn't see your post last night when I posted.... I believe that you can have side effects with Advair. I remember reading on the package something about the steroids in there... I know it isn't as potent as the one that you take systemically but it still can have an effect....I personally love Advair and have seen a huge difference in my breathing with it... I am thinking it has to do more with the long acting bronchodialator that is in there because I take much higher dosese of steroids than what is in there......

Come to chat soon... I always laugh so hard when I talk to you.... I may have to get messenger just to talk to you..

Melissa, I have shoulder pain.. sort of the way you describe it.. feels like the pain in my hips... my range of motion is is effected in my shoulders but it mostly just hurts at night when I put pressure on them.....

Hope you have a great day...

Jennifershope.. I just wanted to let you know if my horse had that with her bones I'd have to put her down.. as in put her to sleep us humans are really rezilliant compared to animals..

Sorry to hear about the seriousness with your bones, it must be aweful.

If they want to schedule you for surgery do it. School will be there when you recover. Your health is more important than that. Believe me, I know. I use to think the same thing until I got so bad with breathing, I finally said, "Ok, I can't do this anymore". After my transplant I went back and finished my school, and earned my degree. Here I am almost 9 years later with a good paying full time job.

Best of wishes

I am glad I am not your horse then.... LOL.. your post made me giggle so hard....

If I was someones dog I would have been put down as well because that is what they do with dogs who get Addison's disease.... Glad I am not a dog either.... God must have known what He was doing when He made me a human....otherwise I would have been put down a long time ago.....

I always use that line on my Dr. I always say, " you know if I was an animal they would have put me down a long time ago." He always laughs at me and says, " well you are not an animal and I am not a Vet." of course we are both kidding....

I totally understand what you mean though...

Hello Jenn...I am so sorry to hear about the AVN in your hips. Through all of this you remain tough, although I know it eats at you. You have so much goiing on with school, I know you are so close to your dream you can almost t taste it. I wish I could take some of your pain away...I will keep you in my thoughts as you decide on what to do. As far as beds go...oooh, that tempurpedic sure sounds good! I have a hospital bed with two egg crates on them, seems to help my joints and muscles...I wonder if your insurance company could help you out as far as getting a bed because of your AVN? Hugs and well wishes going your way, Jenn
