Frustrated with CF Center

I feel your pain! My adult CF center was great when I first started going there. I'm not sure what's happened since then, but now they are exactly how you described yours.

It takes up to a 2-5 days for the nurse to return my phone calls/messages, they have lost my pharmacy info more than once, and seem to take no interest in my care. I'll refrain from "going off" any more, but I do feel your pain, and you are not alone...VERY frustrating.

I find my CF center deferring to a lot of other doctors these days, where in the past they had no trouble treating. For example when i developed insulin resistance secondary to high dose steroid therapy for ABPA, I had to go see an endocrinologist, rather than them just putting me on a sliding scale of insulin until the completion of the steroids.

I think stuff like that can come off as being less involved, especially to those of us in the medical profession. It does get frustrating, though. I find myself calling coworkers who I know will write for antibiotics and stuff and then filling in my CF center on the details later. Occasionally they will chime in with an alternate plan, but for the most part, they just take note.

I think medicine is becoming much more compartmentalized. We all know that CF affects almost every organ system in some way, but the majority of CF docs are Pulmonologists. They used to treat CF and all of it's aspects before, whereas now they farm out everything but the Pulm. stuff.
