Hello Shawn,
I agree with what everyone else has said before me. I just have one question: when you say that your daughter is on the g-tube 15 hrs p.d. do you mean that she is receiving nutrition during that entire time?
My grandson, who turned three last week, is only fed through the g-tube at night during his sleep. The rest of the day, he eats "normally". In other words, he is only hooked up between midnight and 6.00 a.m. which is the time it takes for his supplement to be delivered.
Cheers,
Gill, grandmother to Miguel, born Nov. 2007, diagnosed at 3 months w/ CF ddf508, esophagous reconstruction to stop reflux and vomiting, Daniel (5) and Marta (8) both w/o CF (different father).

What kind of G-tube is it? My son is 5 and started with a Bard Peg G-tube when he was 2. It had to be changed under anesthesia yearly. Two months ago it was switched to the Mic-Key brand G-tube, and we were told it has to be changed every three months. We don't run it as many hours however, we do it about ten hours a night. He has had irritation and granulation around the site which was taken care of by using topical prescription ointment Triamcinolone (sp?). That can only be used about seven days however. We have also found that just cleaning around the site with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and water, rinse it, then let it air dry a few times a day. We have even used a blowdryer on the skin to speed up the process when needed. Another time we thought the tissue was granulated, but it was actually a staph infection which required a different prescription.
