My main problem was definitely pain, also, my doctor told me if it was tender to sleep with my feet up in the air like against a wall or have someone hold them up, that really helped me in the beginning, during the muscle healing up. It took a while for my "site" to heal too, and now I used desotine (sometimes as like a blocker in case the acid comes up on skin) and neosporin. I imagine that the pain wont be bad for her though, when I was 7 I had a bowel surgery that I had a scar across my entire stomach and I dont remember it ever hurting at all, funny b/c now I think I would be crying everyday.
My home health care provider provided all my tubing and my pole and pump though. They were going to provide the 2Cal or something but my insurance did not approve b/c they consider it "groceries" b/c its not my only form of nurishment. My doctor is fighting it right now with a letter with my BMI and other medical evidence that i need the boost, and she says she has to do it often but I think in most cases it just takes the letter for the insurance to start paying... so for me, I make 2 scandishakes a night with either 2% milk (so not too thick) or pedilyte for some eletroyte boosts.
Lastly, as a newbie (just got my tube in 3 weeks from today) with the tube... sometimes I do get super disgusted with the tube. Like the other mom said, about crying. I havent cried, but I get upset with it... I never thought I would. I consider myself to have pretty high esteem and everything but so far it has made me feel pretty yucky... but I still have the 2 foot long 'initial' tube in, I am thinking once I get a button or low profile tube in, I will feel more comfortable, its just the tube gets cumbersome and annoying and its ugly and the food backs up and it looks gross... haha but, I think it will be beneficial, I have only done one week of the 'goal' amount of calories so we will see.
