So i went to get my g-tube checked the other day to see if it was to tight and it was fine but the doc said that once its healed there going to put a button in right now i have a long tube hanging from it. He said that they pull the this one out through my stomach once its healed and put in a button my question is does it hurt because i know if i catch the tube and pull on it, its one sick feeling i cant imagine if he has to pull the whole thing out and put a new one in. Im a little scared so any info would be great.

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> The button that you have in now is that a Bard? My 8 year old son that his g button placed and the first one that they put in is the Bard. The bad thing about this is there is not a deflatable balloon in the back so that have to just pull it out. My son's surgeon gave him a couple of shots around the button for it to be numb b/c I would assum it hurts. It counted to 3 and then pulled it out and stuck the Mini button in. After putting it in he inflated the balloon and he was good to go.

It was done in the office not actually in surgery. Good luck with it. I know that he didn't like having it done but he was glad to get the Mini so we can change it out at home. Best wishes.

No, it won't hurt. the reason they wait until it is healed is so that they can just slide the tube out (like removing a pierced earring).

The new button will slide right it. They'll inflate it and it will be done.

Im not sure if what i have now is a bard it has a fairly long tube with 2 ends one for feed and one for flush. But i know this one doesnt have an inflatable end its just a plastic flange on the inside of the stomach there going replace this one with the button that has the inflatable end. but if a big peice of plastic has to come through that hole it doesnt sound like its going to be to much fun...
