My daughter got hers in November, so she was a bit older than Zeke. I have mixed feelings about the tube, but its ideal for meds, gaining weight, and keeping them hydrated when ill (a good way to avoid another hospitalization).

My daughter had a huge increase in reflux issues for about 2 months post surgery, but now she is doing much better with that.

I'd suggest putting together an emergency kit once you get your button (or if you have it now) and include: an extra button, surgical lube, a foley catheter one or two fr smaller than his button, and a few capped syringes of distilled water. Throw the kit in your diaper bag so that if you every have an issue of the tube coming out you can replace it or at least get something to hold the hole (stoma) until you can get to the ER. Those holes close up very very fast, especially in the first 6 months. The last thing little Zeke needs is ANOTHER surgery.

You'll get the hang of it. In 6 months you'll be shocked at how well we all adapt and it all becomes very very normal.

I hope you can use it until he's one and he'll be big and healthy and able to be weaned!!! His new picture is adorable, btw.

i am definatley a fan of the gtube...not a fan of my daughter having surgery..but it has kept her out of the hospital on 2 occasions when she had the flu and they we going to hospitalize her due to dehydration...i said, "Oh, no..i will "force" it into her..lol". and it has made a huge difference in my daughters weight gain issues she had after birth! (its also easier to get her to take "yucky" tasting medicine..ie: prevacid). i had issues with the balloon popping for a couple months..but once you change a few you become a pro and its not a big issue!
