Gaining weight tips?

Add frappes made with Haagen Dazs ice cream and whole milk to your meals. Haagen Dazs is the most fattening ice cream I could find. If you make a frappe with 1 cup ice cream and 1 cup whole milk you'll be getting about 37 grams of fat and 12 grams of protein in just that frappe. My son has put on 20 lbs in the past year. He insists it is the frappes.

He also started on an appetite stimulant cyproheptadine which I think helps a lot as well.

I also love the idea of snacking on peanut butter.

It's not just about the calories. . .I always wieghed close to my "ideal" weight through most of my teen/young adulthood. I am 4'11" and I weighed 96-100 lbs most of the time. There is one thing no one mentioned. . .muscle! Muscle wieghs more fat and it will give you some size. I spent time at the gym and did things to help build muscle tone. You don't want to just gain fat cells. I ate around 3,000 calories a day like you are. I drank Boost Plus and I ate pretty much constantly. Snacking on things all day. BUT I also took dance classes, did weight training, aerobic classes, ran and swam alot.
When I would be at the gym people would comment that I was skinny enough I didn't need to be exercising. . .but I was there to gain muscle, not loose fat. 5 lbs of muscle is much less than trying to gain 5 lbs on just fat.
Keep taking in the calories! and if you're not already, add some weight & strength training. It helped me maintain my wieght. I NEVER had to have a G-Tube or a feeding tube until post lung transplant.
GOod LUck! I hope you reach your goal weight~

carly23,
I always had trouble gaining/keeping weight.
At my heaviest, I have been 115 (my doctor's goal). It was such a relief to get there. Now I bounce between 109-113 and I'm happy with that.

I was going to suggest Scandishakes - but you've got that covered.
I can't really give you any amazing advice but I do understand what you are going through.
It's very frustrating, I know.
