Gas... so frustrating

I think my enzymes have stopped working. For the past few weeks I have been having the worst gas I've ever had in my life. It got so bad last night my boyfriend had to sleep in our spare bedroom, I literally stunk him out of the room, oh the things we CFers deal with.

My question is what are some of the GI medications you take for preventing gas? And what enzymes do you think are the best for preventing gas? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you get some good CF/enzyme answers.
I just want to throw in the question of whether you've changed something in your diet in the past weeks. I'm so unable to digest sorbitol, for example, that adding mouthwash to my dental care routine made me have horrid, constant-production, "enter the bedroom if you dare" gas. Doesn't hurt but smells like chemicals and rot. Same happened when i had a brief obsession with cranberry sauce. No idea if that has sorbitol but fruit sugars in general are risky for me.
I hope u figure it out.

Bacterial overgrowth will cause really foul odor. See your CF Specialist or just call for a Rx.

Lol I can completely relate. My husband gets bad gas sometimes too (we think he might be a bit lactose sensitive), but nothing compares to my "silent but deadly" ones. He tells me at least his make noise so I get fair warning. Mine are like chemical warfare- but its not all the time so I don't know what its related to. Being in public is a tough one- trying to find a quiet corner or empty aisle to let it go....

I can totally relate baco623. For years I had terrible flatulence, to the point where I remained at home most of the time because of the akwardness of going out in public with vicious gas. I was constantly on flagyl, and that did help.

But the human body has an excellent way of healing itself, without the use of drugs. I realize we CF'ers need drugs, but I do like to cut down as much as I possibly can. I found that I have ZERO gas, well I lie, if I try to fart either I fart or something else happens, when I totally eliminated extra servings of sugar from my diet. The only sugar I consume now is the sugar contained in the food I eat. Which means no licorice, no fruit snacks, no candy bars, no ice cream, etc. I also take a good probiotic called I Flora.

I previously thought that my gas was enzyme-related. But it turns out that I have to take very few enzymes, I just cut out the sugar and BAAM, no gas!

Well food for thought.

Got your gall bladder still? That puppy acting up can turn a room blue. Have you considered ox bile, it sweetens those roses.
