we have one daughter and I was curious if we were to have more kids and they got CF would they inherit the same gene pairing as she has or could it be a different one altogether?
It would be the same gene pairing. But the symptoms could be very different, anyway. No one knows for sure why, but there are probably modifier genes that influence the expression of the CF mutation and that can differ from child to child in the same family
Yes, their gene pairing would be the same they have the same gene pairing, so long as they have the same father. But, as Bambi said, the same gene pairings cause smyptoms that vary dramatically person to person.
Hmmm. I think she/ he would have the same pairing if she had CF. This is because if you nor the daddy, has CF, then there is only one way for the baby to have CF. She would have to get the same gene from you and the same gene from the daddy that your first baby received. I think thats right.
