i've started my monthly cycle of inhaled gent. here's my question cause i've never noticed it before. the roof of my mouth and my tounge hurt. kind of like i've had too much salt. has anyone else noticed this or do you guys have any idea what it could be? i thought maybe thrush, but i don't have any sores or anything like that in my mouth. it's just a little on the annoying side cause i do like to add salt to my food and eat popcorn, but it hurts to eat those things right now.

Yes! I took gent/tobra inhaled when I was younger and it did this to my mouth. My doctor thought it was weird, he never heard anyone complain of that side effect. Basically it made my whole mouth very very sensitive, and eating foods that are salty or acidic (pineapple, salt, even ketchup) would hurt really bad. It's not thrush, it just seems to be a rare and weird side effect of those drugs. Eventually it got so bad that eating anything at all hurt unbearably and I was just miserable. They finally listened to my complaining and took me off the meds.

I'd tell your doc and ask if you can be put on something else... maybe Colistin or TOBI? Sorry you have this problem too, it sounds trivial but it's really annoying when you can't even eat!

(oh and your baby boy is adorable, grats )
