Georgia Wildfires

I'm in Alabama (Gardendale), too, and this morning it looked like there was a fire in our neighborhood, instead of the smoke blowing in from another state- it was horrible and thick and coming in in waves from the east when I went out to get the paper! I try to stay in on days like this (here lately especially), but today was errand day, sign up for water aerobics at the local college day, and it's our 15th wedding anniversary, so I blew that strategy today, and I am so gunked up tonight- oh well- I will be staying in as much as possible (like all day tomorrow). My daughter (no cf) is getting a little aggravated that she can't go out on the deck and play with the new sand in her sandbox, though.... I can't imagine living near those fires!

Our local weather stations have been having info about how long it's expected to last, and what times of the day it's the worse (cleared up a bit this afternoon, and that's when I went to do groceries and register for class). Check the internet sites like abc3340 and nbc 13 and they should have some info. 3340 usually has a blog about it...

I live in Blackshear, Georgia. I live about 12 miles from where the fire started (Waycross). It has been bad here. We have a lot of days of smoke from the fire. Some days so bad your could not see two car lengths in front of you. I just keep my son indoors when it is bad. The school is kind enough to let him stay home and not count it against him. If we do go out we put a mask on him and then when we get home we do an extra breathing treatment to clear him out. We have been lucky so far as we have not seen a big difference in his breathing functions. In fact the doctors were surprised at our recent visit that even though we have had the smoke his functions actually were up about 10%.
Hope it clears up there for you.
Here's hoping for clearer and brighter days ahead and lots and lots of rain for south ga.
