Getting 1st PICC line placed Friday...

My Steno (stenotrophomonas maltophilia) has now become resistant to everything but Minocycline and I have to start IV's in a couple days, as well as inhaled Colistin.  It will be my first PICC line and have not used Colistin before.   Any advice for a newbie in regard to PICC care and Colistin tricks to prevent foaming?<div><br></div><div>Thanks in advance!!</div><div><br></div><div>Jen 41 yo w/CF  </div>

Hi Jen,

41 & your first Picc line ! That is great .. I dont have any advice on the Colistin.. I have had many Picc lines in the past, before I got my port.. Love my port !

I would suggest: asking for something to calm your nerves before the procedure, having it done in interventional radiology (they can see what they are doing !, highly recommend this) ummm, its been awhile, cutting the bottom of a clean sock to put over the picc line site..

Im sure there are many other tips you can get.. Good luck with the placement & let us know how it goes..
