we have a smart vest. I picked it because the vest model they showed us looked like it would be the most comfortable. It also has one hose instead of two which we liked. Compared to the reverse engineered hoover vacume we had at the hospital, it's amazing! Also way more effective then manual cpt/acapella for danika.

We have "The Vest" from Hill Rom (http://www.thevest.com/) It's the one that our center recommends. We didn't comparison shop for other models so I cannot tell you how they compare. We are quite happy with it, we got it for our daughter at age 2 and she tolerates the treatments just fine. She likes to sing while she wears it because her voice comes out sounding so funny and choppy. It fits her well. It provides enough range of motion for her to do puzzles or play with toys while vesting. It came with a travel case that is sturdy and easy to use. We took it camping and plugged it in at a campsite bathroom outlet and vested in the woods outside, which amused me. The company provides excellent customer service - our original unit developed an error and they overnighted us a replacement at no charge and sent us a shipping label to send the problem one back at no charge to us. The customer support over the phone was friendly and helpful and prompt. So far, no complaints. But I do not know anything about whether another kind of vest might provide better airway clearance. I would be very interested in learning about any detailed comparisons between vest types that anyone might know of.

We also have the Hill Rom vest. I cannot comment on the other one as we have never used it. I will second what was said about Hill Rom's customer service. It's awesome. Since we paid the original amount, we haven't had to pay for anything else. Vests, hoses, replacement units, shipping... nothing. Most of the time they will overnight if you need. Also they just came out with washable vests. They "buckle" in the front instead of velcro on the sides. Really nice, comes in pink and blue. When I ordered the washable one for the first time, I requested an adult small. We got it and it was too big for my daughter. I called and they sent a kids large (which fits fine) and I was told to keep the other one for the future. Good luck...

I have 2 kids with CF, one has The Vest from Hillrom, one has the Respirtech Incourage. Customer service has been great with both companies. I can set them both to do the same things like ramping up, ramping down, pausing for coughs or huffs, etc. They both came with a great traveling case. Both have a washable vest.

I like the Hillrom better becausethe machineis shorter, so it takes up a little less space. It is also a lot quieter. But the Respirtech has these great clamps on the hoses so they don't pop off if your kid wriggles away, and theVest does not. They don't pop off if DD is just sitting quietly, but she is 2 and sometimes throws a tantrum or tries to walk away, and the hoses will pop off.

In my opinion, the Vest by Hillrom is better, but I wish it has the hose clmaps that the Respirtch does
