People want to get drunk for the same reasons that people want to get stoned, to either forget their worries, or just to experience increased confidence and lose the self consciousness that some/most of us feel (I am terribly self conscious about the way i look thanks to CF).

I can't understand anybody who has never been drunk or stoned in their life, how boring!! I couldn't even begin to imagine how dull life would be if i always exerienced it on the same plane, felt the same way about everything and everyone 24 x 7 for all my life. I like to experience different things, including states of mind. But hey, each to their own huh?

As for CFRD, don't have it and drank like a fish for about 15 years, so i don't know if it's really an issue</end quote></div>

Ah ah ah ah. Well said. I liked it. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I never touch insulin when i have alcohol. If i did, i would be in big trouble. I hypo even without the insulin, so i cant imagine what would happen if i took it.

Alcohol will lower your blood sugar levels if you drink enough of it, THATS WHY IT GIVES PEOPLE THE MUCHIES, so dont think just because you are drinking sweet alcohol it means your BSL's are going to be high.

KrazyKat's almost got it. People drink, smoke whatever because it makes them feel better. Tbh I never used to drink, I didn't really like it, I used to smoke instead. Unfortunately, or I suppose fortunately I can't smoke now because of the CF, so I tend to resort to alcohol on the weekends. It just helps me unwind, and makes a change from being normal, stressed, and level headed etc. Just when you do drink with CF make sure you take on plenty of rehydrating liquids as well otherwise you will obviously become dehydrated and therefore will have a negative affect on the lungs.
