Getting pregnant again...IVF/PGD

My husband and I have three beautiful children. Our middle child Ainsley was diagnosed five months ago, just before we were going to start trying for number 4 ( I know we must be crazzy), we actually were planning to go for 5.
A couple months after diagnosis, we made a hard decision and my husband just had a vasectomy last month. We decided that we have been very blessed with the 3 we already have and I couldn't bear the thought of any of my children being discarded, since with all of my pregnancies I felt bonded from conception on ( I always knew I was pregnant before taking a test).
Good luck in your decision, just remember all life is a miracle to be cherished.
God bless

Adoption is always an option for more kids, and it's even mentioned in the old testament as being pleasing to God to care for the orphan.</end quote>

Just wanted to say that I think Allie & Ry are heroes for adopting.

Amy, adoption doesnt make us hero's.....it makes us extremely blessed...
Allie and Ry are hero's for other reasons..

I know you werent posting about me, Amy, but I had to add that.

Also, just because you adopt...it doesnt automatically mean you will get a perfectly healthy child/baby....but, I wouldnt have it any other way...I wish Chey didnt have c/f, but it didnt make me love her less when we found out about it.

Carla, good luck to you both.

I have to respectfully disagree with Allie on this one. The embroys that you choose NOT to use, or don't use becaue you don't want to implant 250000 babies inside you CAN be donated to research, to science (yes, I did say that!) any remaining embroy's after we had children, but we didn't have any left it wasn't an issue. I'd rather they go to research to further CF "cures".

I am in touch with a couple who is currently 32+ weeks pregnant with twins via IVF with PGD, their DD has CF. I can ask to pass your email onto them or vice versa (I will get their permission first). Please email me at division902@hotmail.com if you are interested in talking to them.

Donating unused embryos to research (as useful as this may be) sounds more disturbing than discarding the embryos (and potentially aborting life) in my opinion! Surely if you believe that life begins at conception, experimenting on unwanted embryos is almost like human (fetal) vivisection!

Thank you all for your messages. Obviously this is a touchy subject and I am just in the fact finding stages at the moment. This website has been a source of comfort and information for me and I appreciate all of your opinions.

Laura Lou,

I have to ask, if one of these embroys provided insight into CF research that lead to a cure, would that change you opinion? I realize there are many different opinions on this and I respect yours but that's just the way I look at it.

Right, right Julie, I knew that, but from an anti-abortion standpoint, it's all the same, or worse, as LauraLou feels. I'm pro-choice myself, but I do think people should know that IVF brings with it that moral consequence if they are opposed to abortion.

And Deb, I know that adoption doesn't guarantee you a perfect kid. Trust me, mine was being a pain this morning Why is it that kids reject coats when its freezing?? But with adoption, you aren't chancing your child suffering because of a choice you made. Instead, you adopt a kid who needs you as much as you need them.

Also, I'm sure most of you know this, (if you know me at all), but I wanted to add that me saying that IVF involves the same idea as abortion is not my endorsement of playing genetic Russian Roulette. I only brought it up because she said she was morally against abortion, and I didn't want her to unknowingly compromise her morals.

And sofeesmom, if you do so choose to go forward with adoption or look into it, Pm me, and I'll do my best to help.

OKay, I'm done now
