Getting pregnant

Hi, I have been reading that women with CF have a hard time getting pregnant, because our cervical mucus is very thick.

I know that there are many that have gone through IVF to try to conceive, and I am beginning to realize that I might have to go through this when the time comes for us to have children.

I was wondering how many of you here have gone through IVF and how many have conceived naturally?

Hope it's not too personal a question, and for many responses.

Thanks.

I conceived naturally with my first when I was a teenager, but lost the baby at 20 weeks. I have done many IUI's and one IVF, and we are now moving to surrogacy. So far nothing has worked. Our surrogate was pregnant and lost the baby at 16 weeks. We are trying again in May.

Good luck to you!!

I tried to conceive naturally for 11 cycles, none of which were successful. We did 4 IUIs, and I got pregnant on the third try, had a miscarriage, and got pregnant again with the 4th and am now 31 weeks pregnant.

I think a lot of women with CF just need IUI so the sperm can get past most of the cervical mucus, so they never need IVF. This is good news considering IVF is so much more expensive and invasive and just overall exhausting!

Good luck!

I concieved naturally after three and a half years. Technically, we were only "trying" for one of those years, but we didn't use ANY form of protection EVER. A year is a long time to try unsuccessfully, but we weren't quite at a point where we wanted to seek fertility treatment yet.
