Getting pregnant

I'm so sorry to hear Rebecca that your surrogate miscarried.

I conceived naturally the first month of trying. My lung function was mid 60's FEV1. I carried until 40 weeks with no problems during pregnancy. I was 28 years old. I have DF508 and G551D and am PI. I ovulate on day 21 of my cycle with a rubber cement textured ball of cervical mucus discharged. Not normal for sure but my husbands strong swimmers were able to circumvent the sticky goo :)
Sorry if TMI.

I"m glad to hear there are possibilities of naturally concieving. We haven't been "trying", but we have been "not preventing it" for four or five years, and the first thing recommended to us was IVF...just had our appointment yesterday. I was expecting to get information on IUI, and I was totally shocked to have IVF be the first thing recommended when all of my bloodwork for hormones and my husbands sperm count was normal. We are going to try to naturally concieve over the next year and actually try this time before we consider anything else. IVF sounded difficult, invasive, expensive, and the thing that bothered me the most was that if more than one egg is fertilized (apparantly very common with IVF), I would have to make the decision to have a "reduction"- keeping just one - because it's too risky for a CF'er to have multiple, or even just twin, babies. So there is a lot to consider with IVF. I do know of two women with CF in my area who have concieved children naturally. (Sorry I don't have the details on them).
