getting sick in the morning?

hello, my boyfriend has cf, and lately he has been getting sick every morning. he can't even eat breakfast because right away he gets sick. they have done many tests to see whats wrong, and have put him on an extra inhaler as well. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and what kind of medicine they treated you with. I just hate to see him get sick every morning. thanks! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">

RE: getting sick in the morning?

What do you mean by getting sick? On certain days (especially rainy ones) I get naucious & have constant gagging when I cough. I know this is from post nasal drip & am able to remedy it. As a rule if I do my nite time treatment I dont have any other problems. I also will take allergy meds if I know to expect a rainy night or morning to avoid as much of the drip as possible. Without much other info on what "sick" means I cant help anymore. Fill me in & maybe I can offer more help!

I've had the same thing happen to me. It's not a problem anymore, but I used to be unable to eat every morning. If his problem is his stomach just hurts, then the problem could be intestinal blockage and he can take miralax or Go lightly. If he's actually throwing up, though, well, they never figured out what caused that for me, except maybe my stomach needed time after I woke up before giving it anything to eat.

i am just curious because this question made me wonder. how many of you actually like to eat breakfast? i have always hated eating in the morning and i think it is pretty much because i have never felt my best in the morning...and i think that is pretty common for people with cf (to not feel that great in the morning)

are there any of you who love breakfast? this might be a totally stupid theory.

My son use to throw up every morning on the way to his then daycare. He had reflux problems which we didn't know of then. Most mornings he says elephants are dancing in his tummy, so we try to rub his tummy and let him wake up more before we feed him anything. Being on a reflux med has helped SOOOOO much though.

For some physical reason, I can't actually throw up. But I HATE eating breakfast because I feel so nauseous after. I've tried eating different kinds of foods, but no matter what I eat, I always feel sick after! It makes me feel better to know that this is common among us 'CF-ers'!

I figure this was because of coughing during the night and unable to spit it out myself [ick I know] so i'd just swallow it. Eating anything made me nauseated. Oh and the scent of coffee. ick.

I dont mind eating breakfast, I dont get sick in the morning either, I did one time but that was because one of the antibiotics I was on caused that, cause the dosage was too high, but other than that no, my husband on the other hand cant eat breakfast not till at least 9:00 a.m., cause he says if he eats any earlier, his stomach hurts real bad, he doesnt even have cf either, and this other guy i work with is the same way, and he doesnt have cf.

I cant do breakfast. I do brunch which is usually around 10am. Then a light lunch & early dinner & a nighttime snack. This scheduled worked well while I was working also since break time fell around 10am. Tummy cant handle things so early except cup of coffee or tea.

In mornings I can't eat breakfast right away because I am usually coughing so hard that I can't hold food down. I usually wait until about 10am to have a nice brunch. On school days, I pack lots of snacks to eat once the coughing subsides. This has been going on for eight years so I've gotten a good routine going.

I eat breakfast about once a year. The day we leave to go back home from vacation in NY. We get up really early, and go to the pancake house for breakfast. Other than that, I really don't eat it... ever. I've never liked eating first thing in the morning. Probably for the same type of reason, especially more recently.

I always eat breakfast. My body seems to handle things differently than most, but with my acid reflux I get nauseous if I don't eat. I don't eat a lot just enough so my stomach isn't empty.

Tell them to ask a doctor if they might have intestinal blockage. My Dr. said it's a common problem not just with CF that lots of people don't know about. Or, they could just take a fiber tablet at night and see if that helps.

Ummm...breakfast!
Yes, I eat breakfast every day, if I didn't I'd be a shaky mess. I have CFRD so need to eat or my blood sugar drops too low.
Pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs......anyone hungry yet?
