For those of you keeping up with Gina's <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://friendsofpepe.blogspot.com">FOP blog</a>, it seems like she's having one problem after another since her transplant.

Now she has double pneumonia.

I'm not terribly familiar with all of the aftermaths following lung transplants. I know there are often complications, but I'm wondering if Gina's are pretty typical. Do many people get double pneumonia w/in a week?

I'm worried about her.

All these problems are not unusual in general. GIven the fragile state Gina was in at the time of surgery, IMHO she still is doing remarkably well.

Some people have more issues then others. Although you never know if/when/how things will happen for each tx recipient until they are going through the process.

I had never heard of double pneumonia. As far as the hallucinations, I wouldn't be surprised at things like that happening, though in all 16 of my major surgeries (spinal coard, brain, legs), I never have, but I've never been operated on that system before. Sounds almost PTSD-ish in a way.

As far as the complications in general, it sounds like a rough go, but different circumstances occur, from the surgery itself, to the health and compatibility of the lungs, to the health of the patient, to the conditions of the facility, perhaps.

Doesn't sound quite within the confines of normal, but this is the moment we need to focus on. Worry about the past once she stablizes.
