Hey guys,
Well I am a bit excited as I am ordered Glutathione today online to start taking as an oral supplement. I have talked it over with my doc and they are encouraging me to give it a try and see if I notice any benefits or see a difference in how I feel.
Also they suggested Mucomyst to me. I have read about that on here and some in Amy's blog on Dr. Warwicks stuff. I know very little about it though. I had never heard of Mucomyst before coming to this site and have never taken it before.
I was wondering if some of you that were in the know could share some info with me on mucomyst.
I was wondering what exactly it is supposed to do. Does it break down mucus like Pulmo? Does it thin it out like Saline or HS? Or does it do something totally different? If you take it does it make you cough? If so do you cough alot or no?
Also does the smell correlate to the taste at all? I have read many of you say that it smells bad - some say it is not noticeable though. I am not so much concerned with smell as I can not smell much of anything. I am more interested in the taste is is strong in taste or "Average"? I already take albuterol, saline and Pulmozyme ... TOBI 28 on 28 off - I was wondering if it was irritating to the lungs to take it as I feel inflammed sometimes with the saline AND pulmo - inflammed to the point that I try not to do them at the same sitting because I tend to get short of breath from the coughing and irritation.
I am interested in trying it but I guess with all of the issues I have had with my breathing in recent months I am hesitant to jump in right away and try something that may irritate me more. Any thoughts you guys have would be great.
Also I would LOVE to hear from someone that has lower lung function similar to me - FVC 40% range FEV 30% range. I know I have read of many trying the glutathione or mucomyst and your FEVs/FVCs are much much higher and I think sometimes it is good to hear from people in a similar situation healthwise.
Also my doc mentioned something about Mucomyst tablets. I read that they are available in other countries but was wondering if anyone within the USA took the tablets. My doc and his nurse said that they would check around to see if there was a pharmacy locally that supplied the tablet form because if there were that may be something I would want to consider - instead of adding yet another aerosol to my regimine.
Well I will end this for now. I look forward to reading everyones thoughts, experiences and information. Thanks a bunch in advance.
Also thank you Kelly (MyNewfy) for sharing the site that you buy glutathione - that is where I will be getting my order.
Edited to add: How often do you take it - for those that take mucomyst? Is it something that you take twice a day or once? When do you take it - morning or night? Have you found that there is a better time of day for you to take it - i.e. morning because it keeps you up coughing at night or what have you?
Have a great day,
Lindsey
