Great Strides fundraisers for Adults

Hi there!

I am HUGE on email and myspace fundraising. I've raised almost $2000 and gained almost 20 team members in about a month just by harrassing all of my friends. Just write a little letter explaining your situtation and the importance of finding a cure ASAP.

Also, I put on a CF Karaoke event last year that a local bar/grill (smoke free, of course! ) put on and catered for free. We did "any bill, any song" and we raised about $800 that night. It was a ton of fun and we ended up recruiting some more Great Strides team members at the event and they ended up raising a lot of money for our team too.

Also, if you have any friends who are teachers, hit them up for the "Jeans for Genes" fund-raiser. I know you said this might not be for you, but my friends do this at their schools and they each raise a couple hundred bucks.

I've never asked business to donate, but I'm going to try this year. Fingers crossed! As far as strangers go, you would be amazed by the generosity of strangers! I've recieved some BIG donations from people I've never even met. You just have to get the word out there, any way you can, and then you'll start seeing those donations add up.

Best of luck to you and please let me know if you have any other questions!

My husband (a Comic book penciler) took something he enjoys...a game called HeroClix (a table top game usually found at a comic shop) and help a tourney to raise money for the GS. A few years ago I did a tourney in a medieval recreation/fantasy group called amtgard...

You could incorperate a fundraiser into any hobbies you have. My daughter and I attend a Chili cook off, and I've gone to a talent show too!

What is the "jeans for genes" fundraiser????? Sounds good.

I think connecting with a school is always a good bet. A lot of kids in most states have to get service hours and fundraisers are a fun way for them to do that. We worked with a local high school one year and we are doing it with my daughter's grade school this year.

My husband is a local meteorologist and the top 5 fundraisers get to do a weathercast with him. Should be fun.

I have a small team and everyone kinda does their own thing.. I hear that E-mail is an amazing route to go.. My sister Naomi, (and my biggest supporter i might add does mailings.
She writes a letter each year (or recopies the year before if she still likes it or doesn't want to add anything) about me and about our sister Linda (she passed away the year we got dx'd , of breast cancer) She asks for contributions and includes a stamped envelope (to me so everything comes to me) and viola to my amazement the checks start coming in!! Oh happy day !! Anywho , sorry so long, but thats how we do it and it isn't to hard for me... joni P.S. Good Luck and let us know what you come up with and how successful you are ...
