great strides walk question

These events aren't up to speed with infection control in my opinion.

People use the same pens to sign in to the walk, they're shaking hands, using the same utensils to serve food from the catering trays, etc etc etc.

So many ways to spread germs like MRSA, multi-drug resistant PA, etc.

i attend some events but i don't touch ANYTHING or ANYONE. i bring my own pen. i don't shake hands/hug.

do a search on here - MDRPA and MRSA are hell to have and cause many CFer's a ton of grief. to expose a kid to that for just one day of a fundraiser unless you have immaculate precautions - not worth it in my mind.

take care

We didn't take ds there for the past 3 years because of the playground issues -- when he was a baby we confined him to his stroller -- this last time he stayed with our group in his stroller and he's not much for eating, but if he had decided to eat, I had snacks and juice along for him. We have a party afterwards at my inlaws house with sloppy joes, salads and chips.

Also, my MIL and her sister help out and they're pretty vigilant with the serving -- wear gloves, there's hand sanitizer, but just in case someone isn't as cautious as we are -- we stick with the individually wrapped items for ourselves and pass around the hand sanitizer frequently.

I say its cool to go -SINCE she is a baby and will just be in the stroller. But pack the hand sanitizer for yourself. (and yeah bring your own pen).

Also the ones I have been to they have lots of food and drinks so your good.

keep in mind - hand sanitizer doesn't always kill MRSA.

that's a smart thing to know both when you're out in public as well as in the hospital.
