Great Strides Walk

I feel so bad because my daughters and I are doing the Great Strides walk, but we are not planning on taking Marissa. Her father and I fear her catching something there. Do any of you take your children? I think it would be neat for her to go to see and talk to other kids with CF, but I am worried about her picking up anything, or giving anything. She herself is positive for MRSA, which we really don't quite understand how insignificant that seems to be. What are you doing?

I take Samantha. CFF specifically says that if they have B. Cepacia they can't come, but other than that we identify the CFers and keep a distance between them. The recommended distance is 3 ft but we strive for a little more. We find that Samantha enjoys the exercise and outdoors.

i go but i don't touch a thing.

pens used to sign in, i don't touch. serving utencils for food at the event, i don't touch. in fact, i don't touch the plates or napkins either because i'm not sure if any CFers were involved in setting up the event.

so i go, i walk around, say hi to friends i've known for 2+ decades, but i stay clear of everyone

We used to take DS, but didn't last year and don't intend to this year. When he was younger he stayed in his stroller, not biggy, but in more recent years he's discovered the playground at the park where it's held. The last walk we were at, I pulled him off the playground equipment when it got wayyy to crowded and the walk was getting ready to begin. Maybe when he's older and learns not to constantly be digging up his nose... One of the other moms said she just promised her daughter that they'd find another park on the way home or later in the afternoon they could go to.

Oh, and he really could care less about the walk at his age. We have a big bbq at my inlaws house afterwards, and he gets to hang out with his grandfather, who takes him to his Saturday gymnastics class.

Oh and ditto on the food. I carry along hand sanitizer and handi wipes, I'll drink bottled water and eat the prepackaged foods. I pretty much avoid the things like pizza, donuts... things that everyone else digs in.
