Sorry if im ofending anybody with this but i love when people on here say that Cfers should be greatful. It makes me laugh. Every time i see that in a post i want to EXPLODE! How can you be greatful! Quite honestly Cfers lives suck! How should we be greatful! Also theres those post with "god cares" and "god gave you this life for a reason". Pretty sure if god cared nobody would have CF, and 90% of people with CF die way before being eligable for retirement so explain how "god gave you this life for a reason" cause thats total bs! We dont even life till 45 and we are here for "a reason". Come on! Lets get a reality check!

Sean, I'm sorry you have to deal with this not only at your young age, but for your whole life. My son has CF and it hurts me so much to think he will have to go through the feelings you're having. I think most people don't know what to say to someone who deals with what you do, and so they try to justify how something so scary and awful happens to so many young lives. I'm not excusing them but they don't know how many times you've heard that or how insesnitive it is. For me, I always got angry when people told me it was 'gods plan' for my baby to have a horrible, painful disease. I hope that as you grow, you are able to find ways to deal with the foolish things other people will say., and I hope you find a happy, strong, satisfying life, in spite of CF.

Ok I would like to say that what makes me Grateful is knowing that i have CF. I have had most of my left lung removed because they did not know that I had CF.I have had fourteen collasped lungs with cheast tubes. Then when i turned 50 I found out that i had Cf lets not mention how i begged over and over again for antibiotics So for me i am grateful that i know what i have and yes having Cf makes me live and get more out of each and every day! I must say that I am very Grateful and blessed to have a much bigger picture than the here and now. This is only for me i can not speak for others but i do feel Grateful Thank you Kathy

Sean,

I know where your coming from and like absintheminded said unless you have CF you can't say anything other then comforting words. I however do have CF and know what you mean. I try to think positive sometimes and say im fortunate to have CF because if I didn't I wouldn't have met such amazing people like my nurses or the Make A Wish staff. But I know what you mean too about how fortunate could you be if you spend about 2 hours a day on a vest with nebulizers and 40 pills a day along with IV antibiotics. You cant be. and why would anyone wish something like this upon anyone....they wouldnt.

Basically I agree with what your thinking but as someone who went through exactly what you are right now-& going in for a tune up around 6/7 times a year - you have to make the best of what your given. Yea CF sucks but its the card we were dealt, so deal with it........Live it up and enjoy every moment you have- appreciate the things in life that you are still able to do (walk up a flight of stairs when your not sick, sleep a full night without waking up coughing, laughing with your brothers/sisters/or friends)

hopefully that helps....I just know what your going through and its frustrating sometimes especially if you don't agree with people when they say they are grateful and fortunate to have this disease,,,,,but take the good with the bad and just make it work for you =)

Now you offend me. I am 21 and there's little to no chance that I will see the day when I turn 22, and now you are telling me that I haven't taken care of myself or didn't excercise? That's kind of insulting, don't you think?

Wow, I agree with Bjoern89 completely. If taking care of yourself and exercising were all it took, a lot of my friends would still be alive, and I would be dead long ago. Sorry, Enzo, that's not how CF works. Some will live to be 60, but there are still children dying of CF everyday. It's hard to be grateful for that. To Sean, I understand how frustrating it is to hear how we should be thankful/grateful, how CF makes us who we are, how we should live our lives because of it blah blah blah. I know I would have been damn cool without CF, CF sucks. We are trying to cure this disease, no? A disease that causes pain, suffering, and heartache for so many is not something I will ever be grateful for. I sure as hell don't go around telling people with other diseases to be grateful. People need to think about what they are saying/implying when they say that, and how they might feel if it was them or there children with this disease.
