Some of you know, Philip (and our whole house) is getting over brochitis, sinusitis, etc...to the tune of over $6000. The grandparents have Halloween at their house every year. Our kids are the only grandkids still young enough to go trick-or-treating. Anyway, my husband's sister is getting over bronchitis. The grandfather told her she can't come. So she texts my husband and asks if we can come get her daughter (who is way too old and isn't going trick or treating)and let her ride with us! She said she isn't sick and it's been over 48 hours! I know bronchitis can go symptom free for up to two weeks and I am SO TIRED of this every single holiday! I know we can't expect people to understand CF and it's up to us to protect him, but COME ON! Sorry. I just needed to get this off my chest and I can't post it on Facebook :-(

ugh -- that stinks, I'm so sorry. I don't know why people do that... I mean why they call and put you in the place of having the bad guy to say "no". After several years our families have it down now, because I've pretty much said to them that if she winds up in the hospital they are going to feel very guilty that it might have been their fault. But I'm always stunned when a friend or family member who knows better, calls and "asks" if its okay "just this one time". Its hard enough to manage being a CF mom, but its so unfair when people force us to be the bad guy.

Yep, we've had to be the bad guys, too! "It's just a cold" turns out to be pneumonia or bronchitis. My inlaws entertain quite a bit and my MIL gets too embarrassed by what others think. Think we're finally getting it figured out as well -- DH's cousin called last 4th of July to see if she should stay home due to laryngitis; however, in her case she gets this every year at the same time due to allergies. Plus she's not someone DS is in close contact with during family events.

I spoke too soon about our family finally getting it. Just read a post on FB from DH's cousin talking about how sick her child is home sick today and how miserable he was out trick or treating last night. Greaaat! 'Cuz they were at my inlaws last night when we arrived and hung around to visit (and spread germs and happiness). What is WRONG with people? They did the same thing last year at our family golf tournament and picnic afterwards. Sigh...

Thanks guys. I know I can find people who understand here! Turns out the daughter who is not sick probably was carrying something because I am getting laryngitis. Which, as you guys probably know, is the exact same bug that causes bronchitis, sinusits, pneumonia, etc. Ugh. If Philip gets this crud again I am going to be done with family events!!!

... looks like it's the same all over the world.
I can't get my brother to understand - he has two daughters and one of them goes to kindergarden - they are sick all the time or carry something - but they visit my mom who comes to help with Joanna - because I work - and infect her. And all I hear is spoken in anger -" so what, I can't even caugth beside your child!" and of goes an argument.
The same goes for my parents in law : "What - wash my hands?! You're saing I'm dirty!"
Our friends also have a habbit of saing - oh - just this once....
In Poland we don't go trick or treating - but it's infection time know - and Jaonna has her birthday - and so do two of my brother's daughters. It's always a very difficult time for us....
I wonder - what's the usuall argument you use?
