I really like the sound of inhaling GSH but have the dreaded cepacia and have heard via various cf'ers on here that it is not good for those of us with cepacia to inhale it. Does anybody actually know why that is? I dont have problems with hemoptysis and never have, but don't want to do anything stupid. Can anybody answer this for me?

It is actually just a theory that those with cepacia should not inhale gsh. Cepacia in a cfers lungs is kept in check by the inflammation and when gsh is introduced the worry is that the inflammation will go way down (which is what happens with gsh) and the cepacia will actually go hay-wire and turn into cepacia syndrome...which of course is often fatal.

You should email Valerie Hudson or Dr. Clark Bishop and discuss your concerns with them. They are so open and helpful and could explain it so much better than my lame explanation.
Clark.Bishop@ihc.com

They could also tell you if there have been others with cepacia who have inhaled it.

I don't inhale it because I have reactive airway but I do take it orally and it has had a very positive effect on my health.

pm me if you have any questions.
also, Diane has cepacia and she takes it orally and has great things to say about it.

This is a little off-topic, but I've read so much on this forum about GSH and NAC, and I want to bring it up at my son's next clinic visit. I just want to see what their views are, and if they have any patients using it and what their experience with it is, etc. So... when you say NAC do you spell it out like N-A-C or pronounce it like a word -nac- ? Silly, I know, but I want to atleast know how to say it when I'm discussing it with the doctors!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">
