How strange! I just read an article about Cushing's Syndrome, and it includes all the symptoms you mentioned (including depression and mood swings). It is often mistaken for a thyroid problem. The most common cause is a tumor (non-cancerous) on the adrenal gland. It messes with your hormones and can cause all of those symptoms. It is usually misdiagnosed for an average of 8 years! Another symptom is weight gain, but with CF that might not be the case. Its worth mentioning to your doctors and if they don't listen or find another cause track down a Cushing's expert. Good luck!

thanks everyone for your responses, i have a dr's appt on monday, so im goinig to get to the bottom of this i hope.

for the shampoo- i use whatever is there at this point, so i've used like 3 different kinds in the past weeks, same with conditioner.

stress- i go to a private new england prep school, of corse i have stress...but i dont know the 'scale' or whatever as to how stressed i am.... i suppose most people would say i am, but people who go to school wth would say im not because they are more stressed then me. the other thing is the being new to diabetes, which is quiet stressful.

Cushings.... hmm? idk about that one, sounds scary, but if it gets to that point, i'll research and bring it up!

thanks everyone!

Hey Kate,

I just wanted to let you know that I think that Cushings Syndrome is pretty rare. My mom was actually just tested for that recently - they had to do bloodwork and a 24 hr urine sample/collection or something. No real painful testing or anything.

I just didn't want you to worry about that and think that it is common or anything. That is actually why it is usually misdiagnosed because it is so rare.

I would try to think about anything with your health that has changed recently - obviously the diabetes. If alot has been changing and you have been getting adjusted to new meds and new schedules with meds then maybe that is a cause of it - just the stress of the changes. Has this just started since you were diagnosed with diabetes? or has it been going on for longer?
