Just was wondering what the thought was on hair salons? My daughter is 5 mos with CF...obviously she wouldn't be getting her hair done..but I didn't know if it would be ok for her to go along with me. I forgot to ask this at our CF appt last week so just thought I would check on here and see what the opinion is. Thanks!

If reactive airways like Asmtha is a huge issue then I would avoid it.

I have been going to have my nails done for years now & it stinks to high heaven. When I am really sick I cant go, the fumes bother me too much. Otherwise I have no problem.

We had a great member who was an actual hairdresser that worked for a long time in the industry. Like so many other things I think it depends on the CFer.

I wouldnt say it is HEALTHY to do so, but it doesnt mean problems automatically either IMHO

I cut the hair of my youngest son at home and my son with CF shaves his head himself (he's 21). I go to a hair salon myself to get my hair periodically cut, but react very badly if they are dying someone's hair. I try to arrange to when things are slow and wait won't be long and there won't be so many people there. I would be disinclined to take an infant with CF to a hair salon.
