This is the third day after major surgery, traditionally the worst for anyone, and Roshelle was no exception. She had a bad night and has not had a good day. She did take a good walk and has been up and down periodically with assistance.

Her pain level this evening is about 5. She had to get the doctors to leave orders with the nursing staff concerning her pain medication, so hopefully she can control the pain better. Also, the doctors left orders that she is not to be disturbed between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. She had a lot of interruptions last night in addition to pain, reflux, and hiccups.

Because of the continuing reflux and hiccups, due mostly to anesthesia and drugs, Roshelle hasn't been able to eat much, so she is quite weak.

She is coughing a bit more, which hurts of course, but she is tolerating it. Roshelle is on 3 liters per minute of oxygen (10 liters is maximum) and has had an occasional fever. She contracted clostridium difficile colitis usually caused by antibiotic usage. But it is treated with an antibiotic, so she is on an additional medicine.

Roshelle's husband took a picture of Roshelle's incision; we'll post it for you as soon as possible. Other than that, the key word for today is TIRED. She is very, very tired, but trying very, very hard to cope.

Dear, sweet Roselle, we miss you and are keeping you in our prayers and our hearts. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">
