Hand outs on the corner?!

Hi...So I was driving home today from grocery shopping when I just happened to look to my right and OMG...there on the street corner was a kid (maybe 15 - 17ish) with a baseball cap in his hand with a cardboard sign around his neck that read..."CYSTIC FIBROSIS THROW ME YOUR CHANGE". It took everything in me NOT to pull over and question him??? Why on earth would he be standing on a street corner with a sign like that? So as your driving by him your just supposed to roll down your window and chuck your change at him? LOL The only thing I can figure as to why he was doing this is...well he didn't know where to go for help and or his family was/is really poor???? Now that I think about it I probably should have pulled over and led him in the right direction, like to a CF clinic or something.
People just amaze me these days!

Oh my gosh, really. I mean that is something that I never would think that I would see. It makes you wonder do you really think that this kid had CF? If so would he really be out on the street corner? Wow thats a first for me to hear.

I've seen a lot of people on street corners begging for change in my city, although I've never seen someone with a CF sign. My city is also really good for the Shinerama people asking for donations and giving you a CF sticker, as well we have a lot of people on corners playing jazz asking for change for CF.

i've seen people not far from here with signs like " will work for food" or "out of work, need help" but seeing someone with a sign that says " cf " would really surprise me. If you happen to see him again why not stop and see what its all about.

I'll tell you what amazes me even more - the price of health insurance and prescription drugs. Your supposition that this person was indeed poor and was shilling for money to purchase the aforementioned necessities could well be true.

If he has CF I am sure he knows where to go to get some care - the issue may well be one of whether he can AFFORD it.

On the other hand he may just be a real stinker...
