handicap parking permit...

Does anyone have a handicap parking permit?!!! my shrink was talking to me and asking why i dont have one! (my shrink is a part of my cf team) anyways so i thought it was a good idea... i dont think i would use it everyday but for those times when i really didnt feel good and needed to go somewhere i wouldnt have to walk so far! well so i got the paper and filled out my part and then took it to my dr today and he said that i dont qualify for it cuz i am to healthy! ok first off my pfts are 50% at best... he already to me that i am end stage cf and that i am way to sick to have a child... so i am to healthy to have a parking pass but i am too sick to have kids!! hmmm.. this hasnt been my only time i have had serious issues with my dr... i am at the verge of getting a new dr just because he has been horrible... but i have tricare (military ins) and would nee d to go through alot to go outside of the base... anyways, so i was just wondering is there anyone else that has the permits?!!! what is your pfts if so?! I just think that having cf alone qualifys you to have a parking permit!!! ughh!!!

I dont agree that JUST having CF entitles you to it. I do think that if you ask your doctor should work with you. Remember that it doesnt have to be your CF doctor.

So if you have another doctor you see, they could do it. I can understand some doctors not wanting us to use it as a cruch often, but some will & some wont. At least if you had it to use when you NEED IT there would be no worries.

I have a handicap parking permit. When I got it, my PFTs where in the low 30s (where they still are now). I try not to use it unless I need to. Getting it was a blow to my pride. It felt like CF had taken something else away from me, but it has really helped me out. My CF doctor is not the one who did the paperwork for it. I had my local pulmo dr fill it out, but we talked about it before hand. I didnt just walk in with the papers and demanded it to be filled out. My CF Dr knows about it and agreed to it.
