Has anyone else had to fight with their insurance company to cover each person on the CF Team

When we went to our local cf clinic we got billed thru the hospital for the labs, separate statement of benefits for xray, one for the clinic itself, and for each an every medical person we saw -- RT, Dietician, three different doctors with 3 different copays...

We now go to one of the pediatricians for a regular office call a few times a year, once a year labs, culture from the RT...

I find this really disturbing but I can't say I'm surprised, either!! We have 'hmo' type coverage where I often don't see all the paperwork involved in the billing from various clinic/dr appts we go to (as opposed to labs or other testing, where we tend to wind up with more paperwork to deal with.) I am curious now to see the breakdown that they send to insurance; I don't see that part in the paperwork I handle when I am there.

But I would be really upset if they tried to do this to us! The nutritionist is an essential part of the team, as is the social worker, given just how involved a disease CF is. Emily is really small- her BMI is only 14% for her age- and nutritional support is vital. The social worker has helped us with school issues, was invaluable when my oldest had a huge crisis right after Emily was dx'ed, and helps deal with insurance (lol, no wonder insurance doesn't want to pay for someone to help foil their tactics. )

Liza- how complicated!! X-rays and labs are separate but everything they've done once she walks into that clinic has stayed together. I am so glad for this, since we have had to deal with so many different dr's/tests for the kids and it would get completely overwhelming (not to mention $$$$). No wonder you do it the way you do now!
