I would seriously consider the PGD route... knowing that you both carry the Delta F508 gene, it is a very prudent thing to do. Especially since you and your husband do not see eye to eye on risking a natural conception. You do not want to put yourself in a "I told you so" situation with him if you happen to persuade him into it and then you did end up with a child with CF. Having a child with CF can take a toll on a marriage and if he was against the idea of risking another pregnancy in the first place, you will be putting a serious strain on your marriage.

Thanks for your comments - I know this is an extremely personal decision, but I really do appreciate your comments.

I would absolutely love to adopt or even try PGD and have actually looked into both. I have had several friends do invitro and I know the cost is huge - if you don't mind, would anyone mind telling me approx. cost for PGD since I assume it costs more than regular IVF?

I just want to tell you all that I pray for your CF kids every night and I thank God that I do have two healthy kids who absolutely could have had CF. We only found out when we were pregnant with the second that we had the gene. Thanks for your honesty and I wish you and your children a lifetime of health and happiness.

Deirde,

I had PGD after finding out we were carriers with our first son (who is just a carrrier). It was the traditional cost of IVF (about $9000 per cycle) plus the PGD which was $2500 per cycle. In a cruel twist of fate, despite the PGD, our 2nd soon was diagnoised with CF during newborn screening. Almost two now, he is doing quite well, but PGD was not the magic answer for us.
