Have you ever picked up a bug in the hospital?

have any of us CFers ever knowingly gotten a bug while in the hosptial? and you're pretty sure it came from there and not somewhere else??

i know a lot of us like to avoid the hospital for this reason. just wondering how founded our paranoia is?

I saw that article in the paper yesterday too--pretty scary. Especially when you see how many people are not diligent about the germ spreading protocols.

My husband has gotten sick while in the hospital, but I don't know of any particular "bug" that he acquired there. I do remember the first time I went to the hosptial with him for a tune up. He was actually feeling great and not sick, etc., but when we left we were both SO sick (with a flu-like bug).

Just figure out that sick people come into the hospital, spread their germs, have visitors/nurse/doctors that touch them, touch door handles, pens, anything, and you have an atmosphere to spread germs. I believe everyone who enters a hosspital room should wash their hands or at least use the sanitizer on the wall. This should include visitors--and they certainly should do it before they leave. I usually shudder when I see small children in the hopital--children who put their hands on everything, and then in their mouths. Most of the nurses I know do not even wear their nurse's shoes home....
