Hi There.
Yes, I just picked this up while in the hospital. Never had it before. Never cultured it ever... Then five days in the hospital for a tune up and whammo!!! two weeks later I cultured this. DAMMIT!!!!!!!
My doc said no worries, most likely a fluke. I am not buying it. the research I have done shows it is an emerging pathogen in cf. Many cfers culture it after a hospital stay.... much like MRSA and many pseudos.
My advice is NEVER go into the hospital EVER. Treatments should be done at home where cfers are not exposed to all the hospital acquired infections....that includes clinics. In Italy they do home monitored pfts bc they believe that cfers and sick people pose the greatest risk to other cfers. As far as getting rid of it, they should treat it immediately IMHO. The longer it stays in there, the more likely it is it will take up residence.
